Project_1 : Screen stress analysis of mobile phone
Following figure shows disassembly view of mobile phone. The screen composed with the fragile material like glass and has relatively weak strength compared with vessel, case and battery.

The vessel absorb most of the external energy when the phone undergo load like twist or drop. But, the vessel has many holes for the ear-phone connector, power-button, volume control button,.. which will make vessel unbalanced strength.

Our aim of study is to estimate the holes location whether it is located at the optimum position or not. We studied stress on the screen when the twist load applied at each four corners and the calculation done with the Calculix. The following picture shows the stress results of screen when the four kind of eccentric load applied at the end of phone case.


We see max stress deviation between max (load at B) and min (load at C) about 5.2 % hence the vessel hole locations well balanced regardless of the twist load direction.
